Generation of Seed Perturbations from Quantum Cosmology
نویسنده
چکیده
The origin of seed perturbations in the Universe is studied within the framework of a specific minisuperspace model. It is shown that the ‘creation’ of the Universe as a result of a quantum transition from a flat empty spacetime would lead to a flat FLRW (Friedmann Lemâıtre RobertsonWalker) Universe with weak inhomogeneous perturbations at large wavelengths. The power spectrum of these perturbations is found to be scale invariant at horizon crossing (i.e., the Harrison-Zeldovich spectrum). It is also recognised that the seed perturbations generated in our model would be generically of the isocurvature kind. subject headings: quantum cosmology; structure formation; seed perturbations.

Amplification of Vacuum Fluctuations in String Cosmology Backgrounds
Inflationary string cosmology backgrounds can amplify perturbations in a more efficient way than conventional inflationary backgrounds, because the perturbation amplitude may grow instead of being constant outside the horizon. If not gauged away, the growing mode can limit the range of validity of a linearized description of perturbations. Even in the restricted linear range, however, this enha...
متن کاملAdvanced Topics in Cosmology: a Pedagogical Introduction
These lecture notes provide a concise, rapid and pedagogical introduction to several advanced topics in contemporary cosmology. The discussion of thermal history of the universe, linear perturbation theory, theory of CMBR temperature anisotropies and the inflationary generation of perturbation are presented in a manner accessible to someone who has done a first course in cosmology. The discussi...
متن کاملDecoherence of Vacuum Fluctuations in Cosmology
A calculation of the one-mode occupation numbers for vacuum fluctuations of massive fields in De Sitter space shows that their use for the generation of classical density perturbations in inflationary cosmology very much depends on their masses and conformal couplings. A new mechanism for the decoherence of relatively massive fields, 2 < m/H 0 < 9/4, has been identified. Similar analysis of the...
متن کاملThe spectrum of gravitational waves in Randall-Sundrum braneworld cosmology
We study the generation and evolution of gravitational waves (tensor perturbations) in the context of Randall-Sundrum braneworld cosmology. We assume that the initial and final stages of the background cosmological model are given by de Sitter and Minkowski phases, respectively, and they are connected smoothly by a radiation-dominated phase. This setup allows us to discuss the quantum-mechanica...
متن کاملClassical and Quantum Theory of Perturbations in Inflationary Universe Models
A brief introduction to the gauge invariant classical and quantum theory of cosmological perturbations is given. The formalism is applied to inflationary Universe models and yields a consistent and unified description of the generation and evolution of fluctuations. A general formula for the amplitude of cosmological perturbations in inflationary cosmology is derived. ⋆ Invited lecture presente...
